In October 2017, the APTS investigators published the study results up until the babies in the study left hospital.

  • In APTS, there was no difference in the number of babies who survived without major illness in each group.
  • However, in an updated systematic review of all the studies of delayed cord clamping in premature infants (including APTS), researchers found clear evidence that delayed clamping increased the number of babies who survived to leave hospital.

The results when all the babies have reached 2 years corrected age are still to come.
