Federal Health Minister Tanya Plibersek officially opened the ANZUP ASM in Sydney

New research from a visiting US expert on reducing the growing burden of bladder cancer was the highlight of the Australian and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group's (ANZUP's) annual scientific meeting in Sydney held on Monday 16 July.

Urogenital and prostate cancers are among the most complicated cancers to treat, particularly bladder cancer, for which there has been no progress in survival over the past 25 years.

The meeting highlighted the latest innovations in urogenital and prostate cancer care, including new research by visiting US urologist and oncologist Professor Shahrokh F. Shariat on improved integration of surgery and chemotherapy for bladder cancer.
