ACTA event for Clinical Trials Day

More funds for clinical trials and an award for BOOST II

There was double good news for clinical trials this morning at the ACTA Clinical Trials 2017: National Tribute and Awards Ceremony held at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

First, federal Minister for Health, Hon. Greg Hunt, had further details of the recent budget announcement of $33 million of the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) to boost clinical trials activity in Australia.

A dedicated $28 million of MRFF funding will go directly to clinical trials over the next 5 years, $5 million to ACTA to secure its place as the Australian clinical trials peak body.  The rest will be used to support clinical trial fellowships and clinical trial initiatives.

Second, congratulations are due to CTC's William Tarnow-Mordi and his team, whose trial BOOST II was the first runner up in the 'ACTA trial of the year', which was also announced this morning. The picture shows William receiving the prize from Mr Hunt.
