Cooperative Trials Group for Neuro-Oncology
Oncology associate program manager: Michelle Cummins
The Cooperative Trials Group for Neuro-Oncology (COGNO) is a newly formed cooperative trials group, coordinated at the CTC.

COGNO was successful in obtaining a Cancer Australia new-group grant in 2007 for funding to commence in 2008. COGNO plans to take part in and initiate trials to evaluate new therapies and interventions to prevent and mitigate disease.

The group is currently working on several new trials.
Objectives of COGNO
•  To encourage members of the medical and scientific community, through participation, to assist in the conduct, evaluation, promotion and development of clinical trials in brain tumours •  To promote the incorporation of translational studies into new clinical trials in brain tumours.
•  To promote the use of clinical trials in evaluating current therapies and new treatments for brain tumours and to improve the impact of new clinical trials on future clinical practice •  To freely publish the results of research and clinical trials and to make available for general use, on the same terms to all interested bodies, licences for Australian and New Zealand patents issued in the course of research and clinical trials.
