Prospective meta-analyses (PMAs)

Considered the gold standard of medical research. A meta-analysis of trials that is planned before those trials are even commenced.

  

  • CTC (Cholesterol Treatment Trialists) Collaboration

  • EPOCH (Early prevention of childhood obesity)

Individual participant data (IPD) meta-analyses

A review and analysis of raw data from each individual participant from each trial being reviewed.

  • PreVILIG (High frequency ventilation in preterm infants)
  • MAPPiNO (Inhaled nitric oxide in preterm infants) 

Aggregate data reviews

A summary of (usually published) data.

 

 

  • International comparison study into the implementation of the WHO code and other breastfeeding initiatives
  • International literature review of positron emission tomography (PET)
