Time to think about enrolling in clinical trials research at the University of Sydney?

The University of Sydney is now enrolling students who plan to start the Clinical Trials Research program in 2015.

The Master of Clinical Trials Research leads students to a thorough understanding of clinical trials and regulations. Graduates are able to design and lead their own trials and collaborate in large multicentre national and international trials. They can contribute to the body of knowledge on which improvements in health are based, having a solid understanding of research methods, the clinical trials literature and the clinical trials process,

Specifically, graduates will be able to: develop trial concepts; choose optimal trial designs; lead protocol development; implement a trial protocol; develop operational strategies for trial conduct; collect and critically analyse trial data; present, report and interpret trial results; evaluate trial designs and methods; lead systematic reviews; learn funding options; assess patient outcomes.

The progam was developed in response to the need for a formal postgraduate clinical research qualification for doctors, researchers,consultants and other health care professionals, data managers and nurse practitioners. It was developed and is taught by CTC clinicians and researchers who have designed, conducted and published more than 200 clinical trials over the past 25 years, as well as teaching short courses over that time. They are well equipped to provide the knowledge and skills that will enable participants to design and lead clinical trials.

It provides candidates with state-of-the-art interactive e-learning opportunities, 100% online. There are lectures and tutorials, discussion forums and supplementary notes. Students from anywhere in the world have the opportunity to participate.

Most students aim for the master's degree, usually taken part-time over two years.
