Westmead International Update on Advances in Perinatal Care

The annual Westmead International Update was held on 26-28 June 2014 at the Loewenthal Auditorium, Westmead Hospital. This year's program focused on advances in perinatal care, and an additional day was dedicated to a lactoferrin workshop.

Internationally recognised leaders in perinatal care presenting, including Professor Rebecca Reynolds (Edinburgh) and Professor Mary Fewtrell (London).

This event was suitable for students, clinicians, scientists, parents and members of the community with an interest in perinatal care. The program addressed many advances in perinatal care including: preterm respiratory care and resuscitation; Barker's hypothesis and nutrition; public vs private hospital maternity care; anaemia in pregnancy; potential roles of lactoferrin in improving fetal growth and healthy preterm survival; and the benefits of building closer partnerships with parents.
