Advancing the evidence base for care and policy in
priority health areas
Professor
John Simes will lead a multi-disciplinary research
team that has received $10.6 million to improve the evidence base
that informs care and policy in priority health areas. The
program will improve health
care and health policy though advances in
clinical trials research and better methods for combining
trial evidence with individual patient factors (including novel
biomarkers and patient preferences).
The world-renowned team will
tackle major health care questions in priority health areas
where advances will have substantial health impacts: in
particular in cancer, cardiovascular disease,
diabetes, obesity and neonatal diseases.
The program brings together a
unique multi-disciplinary team of clinicians,
epidemiologists, trialists, biostatisticians, and health
economists and national and international collaborative networks of
investigators to reduce death and serious disability.
