New qualification is a foundation for a career in clinical trials research

New in 2011, the Clinical Trials Research course provides students with interactive e-learning opportunities in the design, conduct and interpretation of clinical trials. 

Clinical Trials Research

This course is designed to provide doctors, researchers, data managers and nurse practitioners with a solid understanding of research methods and the necessary skills to design and lead clinical trials, including:

  • developing trial concepts
  • choosing optimal trial designs
  • leading protocol development
  • implementing trial protocols
  • developing operational strategies for trial conduct
  • collecting and critically analysing trial data
  • presenting, reporting and interpreting trial results
  • evaluating trial designs and methods
  • leading systematic reviews and meta-analyses
  • identifying funding options
  • assessing patient outcomes
  • identifying and interpreting issues related to health economic outcomes

Teaching is by distance, and the course is conducted only online. The courses are only offered part-time, with the option of pursuing a graduate certificate, graduate diploma or masters degree, or of studying individual units.
