International Clinical Trials Symposium, 1999
The first International Clinical Trials Symposium, organised by the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre, was held in Sydney on 15–17 September 1999. It was a stimulating fusion of invited addresses, contributed posters, debates, forums, workshops and exhibitions, attended by over 600 people.
The Centre plans to hold similar meetings in the future: the next symposium will be held in 2002.

A highlight of the symposium was the special forums on research strategies and priorities in various clinical areas.
