About us

The CBCG aims to make research evidence relating to breast cancer available to anyone who needs it. To achieve this, the CBCG supports a process which searches for research evidence, formally evaluates it for quality, and then publishes the results as systematic reviews in the international Cochrane Library (Cochrane Library User Guide). The group aims to provide the best source of accurate and up-to-date information, especially about early detection, treatments in advanced breast cancer, and psychosocial interventions and outcomes.

The Cochrane Breast Cancer Group achieves its aims by:

  • Undertaking and maintaining a series of up-to-date, critical and systematic reviews of all health care interventions in breast cancer, mainly using evidence provided by randomised controlled trials
  • Maintaining a network of collaborators who undertake or contribute to systematic reviews in breast cancer
  • Maintaining a specialised register of randomised trials in breast cancer
  • Providing training and resources for reviewers
  • Facilitating and encouraging active consumer involvement in the group's initiatives. Consumers are considered to be partners in each step of the review process: from setting priorities, through initiating and conducting reviews, to disseminating results
