ACHOIS Trial

Australasian Carbohydrate Intolerance in Pregnancy Study.

 

Plain Language Summary:      This study aims to assess two forms of antenatal care for women with glucose intolerance in pregnancy. One group has normal antenatal care and the other "diabetic-style" care with advice about their diet and blood sugar testing. The outcomes are serious problems for the infant, need for induction of labour or caesarean birth, quality of life and health cost.

Trial Objective:

To determine the effects of treatment by current standard practices of glucose intolerance in pregnancy on perinatal morbidity, maternal physical morbidity and quality of life and health care costs.
