PERINATAL TRIALS REPORT PT0352 Midwifery care for pregnant women with diabetes: a randomised controlled trial to investigate continuity of care versus routine care.
Plain Language Summary: The aim was to determine in a randomised controlled trial if continuity of midwifery care in pregnant women with diabetes would reduce postnatal length of stay and increase satisfaction. 124 women received standard and 125 continuity of care. There was no difference in postnatal stay or overall satisfaction between groups. Women who received continuity had a trend to increased satisfaction with labour care and had a shorter duration of labour.
